The Summer Jazz Series has become a steadfast FREE, Family Friendly Concert that showcases the finest talents in classic and contemporary jazz. Staged outdoors on the beautiful grounds of Villa Christina, audiences enjoy cool jazz while dining al fresco in the lush gardens. The annual jazz series is an exciting concert experience for music lovers of all ages and genres.
The dates for 2013 are Father's Day, Sunday, June 16 and Sunday, July 14 2013.
Sunday, June 16, 2013: Robin Latimore
The 10th Annual Summer Jazz Series at Villa Christina will kick off on Father's Day, June 16th with songstress, Robin Latimore. Robin started singing as a little girl for devotion at her mother's revival services and in church. "When your mom is the minister, you don't have a choice". It was her parents who sparked her musical interest. Her dad had a passion for traditional and contemporary jazz as well as big band swing, and her mom pushed gospel and inspirational music. Robin developed a love for these two genres, as well as R&B, Country and Rap.
Robin has been heavily influenced by her idols Phyliss Hyman, Layla Hathaway, Oleta Adams, The Clark Sisters, Kim Burrell, Maysa, and Jennifer Holiday. She has performed with a bevy of talented artists including Ronnie Laws, Rachelle Ferrell, Phil Perry, Maysa, Johnathan Butler, Michael Franks, Jeff Lorber, Mudbone Turner and more!the stage with jazz greats Rachelle Ferrell, Phil Perry, Maysa, Johnathan Butler, Michael Franks. Sunday July 14, 2013: Reggie Hines
Reggie Hines is a diverse and explosive instrumentalist. Born and raised in the South Bronx of New York City, Reggie came from a very musical family and was spoon-fed various styles of music including the unorthodox sounds of Parliament Funkadelic, the never ending grooves of the "Godfather of Soul", James Brown, the innovative transitions of Miles Davis and the conventional sounds of southern gospel.
Over the years, Reggie has been sought out by various musical artists, to share the stage including: Regina Belle, Brian McKnight, Cheryl "Pepsi" Riley, Carl Thomas, Iyanla Vanzant, Zhane, Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Wu-Tang Clan, Sybil, Angie Stone, Jill Scott

Doors open at 4:00 p.m. and music begins at 5:30 p.m. Concert goers are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs for comfortable seating, however, coolers are not permitted. Children of all ages are welcome and will be delighted by free activities including a moonwalk and face painting. There will be a variety of exhibitors whose products and services will be available for purchase including exquisite handmade jewelry, original artwork and more. The Jazz Series is an incredible event to promote your busiess, product or service.
